Projectiles Question A-Level Physics

'A ball is thrown at an angle of 45 degrees to hit an object 40.82m away. What should be the initial velocity?'

Any help would be appreciated

Zero values can be used to simplify the Kinematic equations necessary to solve this question.

For the horizontal (x) component, acceleration (a) is zero.

For the vertical (y) component, velocity (v) is zero at the top of the trajectory, at half the horizontal distance if there is no air resistance taken into account.

Use the knowledge above to obtain expressions for the elapsed time (t) from two of the Kinematic equations. The vertical (y) component acceleration (a) is 9.8 m/s2.

Remember:  cos45 = sin45

You should arrive at the answer of the initial velocity of exactly 20 m/s.
