Time. Is This Plausible?

Recommended Posts

Let me start off by stating that I am in no way a scientist but, I am learning quantum physics. I have an idea of the subject but, I say this again, I am not a scientist.

I thought of a way to triangulate time. I would appreciate any honest thoughts on what I am about to write. Each '-' will represent an line of the triangle so to say.

- We measure time by how long the earth takes to rotate on its axis, while revolving around the sun.

- "Idea" measure the time our solar system takes to rotate and revolove around the milky way galaxy

- "Idea" is it possible to calculate the time at which space is growing? Could space rotate and revolve?

I'm just trying to perceive time differently and needed insight from professionals. Please help.

I don't think "triangulate" is the right term for what you propose.  It seems like the word "extrapolate" would fit better.  Perhaps you could, but I couldn't say how accurate the extrapolation would be. Has humanity existed long enough to be able to say much with certainty how big the universe is?  Will humanity exist long enough?  I rather doubt it.

Please don't this the wrong way but, what does humanities existence have to do with my idea of time? Time is precious because we individually exist for maybe 80/100yrs. But time exists even if we don't.

I don't see how to take a logical question in any "wrong way", but humanities existence only relates to you idea in that we likely will never know the answer, but that's only my opinion leaking out.

Humans went from the abacus to supercomputers and horseback to space shuttles in a span of roughly 100-150yrs. Who knows what questions our species will be able to answer in the future. Although we have our faults I think humans underestimate themselves when it comes to what we can accomplish.
