What Adheres/sticks To Sand?

Hello,

Does anyone know what materials or compounds adhere/stick to sand? For example, like when a magnet that sticks to a fridge.

Water.

The angle of contact between water and silica is very close to zero, indicating a high degree of affinity between water and sand. This is due to the polarity of water and  - more specifically - hydrogen bonding between the oxygen atoms in silica with hydrogen atoms in water.

(I now await the arrival of our resident H-bond obsessive, to write more screeds of somewhat garbled chemistry on the subject.....:) )
