delilalaw23
Pic taken in backyard (Dallas-FW area, Texas) by my late husband and artist extraordinaire, Gary Becker. I've always wondered what they are.
CraigD
I’m no lepidopterist, but my goggle-fu is not bad, so after 15 minutes of image gazing, reading and link following, I’m hazarding the guess that you’ve spotted a silver spotted skipper (Epargyreus clarus) caterpillar. delilalaw23
You are a dear for taking the time to find the answer to my question. I remember seeing the rather ho-hum-looking moths the caterpillars turn into, but I never knew that they started their lives in such striking suits of clothes. Kind of a reverse ugly duckling story!
