Some Solar Maxes are strong, others weak, and, sometimes, as happened for nearly 70 years in the 17th century, the solar cycle can vanish altogether. ... Pesnell believes that "Solar Cycle 24, such as it is, will probably start fading by 2015." Ironically, that is when some of the bigger flares and magnetic storms could occur. I do recall reports of the surge in 2012 and the scaremongering that said that we were in for a period of interrupted communications on Earth. I will keep my eyes and ears open for further developments, if any. You're welcome. :) To clarify, that wasn't scaremongering any more than warnings from NOAA about hurricanes or tornadoes.
