Peace On Earth

For Turtle, sorry I don't have links of research papers that led me to this question, it's just something I've been wondering about for a long time now.

We humans seem to be very good at evolving in terms of making new stuff for us to use under the guise of making our lives easier. We don't, however, have a good track record of evolving into a species that knows what peace is for the purpose of making our lives better. Why do you think this is? Are we born to lose or do we just not try hard enough?

No worries; I got you covered. :D

In a word, competition. We are born to compete.

Competition @ Wiki > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competition

Competition in biology, ecology, and sociology, is a contest between organisms, animals, individuals, groups, etc., for territory, a niche, or a location of resources, for resources and goods, mates, for prestige, recognition, awards, or group or social status, for leadership. Competition is the opposite of cooperation.[1][2] It arises whenever at least two parties strive for a goal which cannot be shared or which is desired individually but not in sharing and cooperation. Competition occurs naturally between living organisms which co-exist in the same environment.[3] For example, animals compete over water supplies, food, mates, and other biological resources. Humans compete usually for food and mates, though when these needs are met deep rivalries often arise over the pursuit of wealth, prestige, and fame. ...

We are also born -i.e. evolved- to plan and cooperate and while other living things cooperate to some lesser or greater degrees they do not plan as we do. That is they don't plan for peace. While there is a lot of non-peace among & between humans yet today, history seems to show it is less than it used to be. :angel2:
