Wisdom And Intelligence

Skipped one: Knowledge is what you absorb by studying.

Intelligence is the ability to apply the knowledge you have, and is both innate and learned (some people's brains are wired better, but you can get better by learning some tricks of observation and application).

Wisdom really comes from when things go wrong, and either you--or better you see somebody else--has the consequences blow up in your face, but most importantly you figure out how to apply that experience in the future.

Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists of not exceeding the limit, :phones:

Yeppers!

You can of course learn from *other* people's experience, and I highly recommend that. Of course the same issue applies: You need to be able to see that other person's failings when you look in the mirror....

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment, :phones:

Yes, wisdom comes with age and time and taking in all the lessons that life gives us, usually the tough ones. My grandma used to say that a very wise person would even learn from other people's mistakes. I haven't quite gotten there myself yet. Seems like I bang my head against the wall more often than not!

This also works if you are lazy. It really is time consuming and tedious to go around doing things so that you can mess some of them up and learn thereby. Far better to relax, watch the world go by and profit from the errors of others. This may not produce true wisdom, but it does generate a degree of smugness.

Haha, this is SO true! Smugness, I am not so sure about, but I do think it's possible to learn from other's mistakes. Or perhaps identify the possible outcomes from said actions. The likelihood is that with repeated actions, the outcomes would be similar. So I think we can learn from other's mistakes.
