WOW, The many faces of humanity we usually see on the news can be of horrible crimes. I found all three of these on news websites today. If only good information was promoted by the media the way they promote bad information things would get <paid-forward> a lot more often. The bus driver saving a young lady from commiting suicide,....all I can say is WOW. :)

But it is not the media, it is us readers/listeners...positive stuff we read and might even think "WOW" but then we tend to forget it quicker than bad stuff, since it did not shock us. This is a general behaviour, I tested it once on myself, the premise was that I often thought 'I always miss the metro for a few seconds' or more in general 'I'm unlucky'. Then I started to count how many I times I just made it to the metro and other things were I could say I was lucky. The result after 1 week was 50% lucky :-).

The media wants to sell, they want people to talk about the news, and that works just better with bad things...so your critic should be to us.
