Deliberate & genuine communication

There are two types of communication as my dog made me realize the other day, coupled with what my wife says about her current colleagues, compared with her old ones.

Firstly, there is genuine emotional reaction to something, which is likely to be primitive and immediate, unless suppressed/ repressed - then there is deliberate signaling (Conscious manipulation of a situation because it is known to work i.e. get the response you want but don't necessarily need). Life is spent working out this philosophical conundrum of which is which - genuine response or fake signaling (CIS - criminal or victim,

liar or honest person, predator or prey?). This I call cusp phenomena because it is on the borders of reality and you have to guess which side it falls on (Only the originator knows for sure or alternatively feels it - innocence or guilt).

Background: My dog acts excited like it needs to do its business, when in fact all it wants is a walk (exercise-aholic). We learned the hard way not to ignore this excitement phase, through two or three periods where it couldn't control its bladder or had diarrhoea, when we first had it.

My wife used to work with colleagues in The East End of Glasgow, who had to deal with drug addicts and alcoholics, plus resultant problems, so needed to be hands on and honest about the situation like anyone in practical situations (police/ fire brigade/ ambulance drivers/ emergency medics/ soldiers etc). Now she works with skivers afraid of getting their hands dirty and full of self-congratulation/ moaning about how hard done by they are (All they want to do all day is paperwork): See my other post today on a related subject in the General Science Forums, under Philosophy Weight Room, 'Experience Simplifies Everything').
