In the "gay to straight therapy" thread...

I made this post, and Bill deleted it. It does not contain offensive language. It does not contain pornography. It does not contain spam. These are all valid uses of the moderation privilege of deleting posts.

You can infract me. You can argue with my post openly and in public view, but using staff level permissions and deleting posts as a debate tool is low, foul, and out of line.

I want my post un-deleted as soon as possible. Freeztar even responded to it, suggesting that the post was perfectly inline with site rules. Bill's deletion needs to be overturned. I thank you for doing it quickly.

How do I avoid having my posts edited/deleted?

Try to stay on topic. Lurk around a bit before you start posting. It is generally a good idea to search the forums to see if what you want to discuss has been discussed before.

Avoid short, witty, off-topic remarks ("hit-and-run posts") in a thread where people are having a serious discussion. This is considered rude and offensive. Use the Watercooler forum for that kind of thing.

Also, rants, flames, arrogant posts, and hit-and-run posts might lead to temporary or permanent banning so please try to behave in here as you would in real life, and everyone will be happy.

Typical reasons for banning

If you find yourself being banned, you most likely broke our rules above, or:

1. Posted SPAM or something we assumed to be SPAM

2. Annoyed our members so much that the moderators decided to ban you

3. Posted hoax theories without doing proper research (this is a science forum, not a forum for fanatic nuts)

4. Kept posting with an obvious agenda (like wanting to debunk science) without having proper proof

5. Trolling - generally being rude and annoying, and contributing very little

Your angry rhetoric blurs your point and makes you look trollish. Your post serves no purpose in the thread other than to inflame argument.

Your colleagues seem to disagree. You are free to infract me, but I ask again that the post be re-instated.

My rhetoric has been clear and well supported. I have been focused and consistent, and your dismissal of my posts as "angry" and "trollish" implies a deep bias on your part, and an inability to act as a site staff member objectively. If inflammatory comments are your true concern, then this would be evidenced by your deletion of other posts which are far more lacking in purpose than mine.

Again, I ask that the post be re-instated. Thanks.
