The applicant

I've had a lot of people pass by through the years looking for a job. Today brought a first though. I actually had an applicant come in wearing a cape. It was a long black cape like Dracula or Batman would wear. I am puzzled by the driving psychological reasons someone would do this. In the USA this is very unusual behavior for an applicant. How would this be viewed in your area?

Very strange. I'm from the u.s. too but this is just bizzare. was he a pretty decent guy? maybe he's got something up his sleeve, like he's working on a documentory. Putting myself in his shoes I would get a kick out of peoples' reactions, always do.

He was probably about 24ish and had an air-headed disposition. He gave me the impression though that all was normal from his point of view. I did wonder if he was perhaps making the mandatory effeort to find a job, as required by welfare, in such a way as to guarantee that nobody will hire him. In this case maybe he was more sly than he looked.

Maybe he wanted you to think he was "cape-able"!

I've never actually had an applicant do anything that flamboyant, although "strong personalities" are not unusual. Did you ask him why he wore the cape? I would have, and I would have given him feedback on how he was meeting his objective.

It crossed my mind but I wasn't sure I could pull it off without cracking up laughing. It was a rather tongue biting experience as it was.
