Stone Age and Stone Tools

For me, stone age is the most productive in the history of human evolution. The Stone Age is usually divided into three separate periods--Paleolithic Period, Mesolithic Period, and Neolithic Period--based on the degree of sophistication in the fashioning and use of tools. This is when most people used stone for toolmaking. Stone tools have been evolved at this age and was made from a different variety of stones mostly natural stone such as sandstone, granite, and limestone.

I have often wondered at the workmanship and artistry that went into stone tools especially the later ones. If metals had never been available how far could civilization gone with just stone tools and pottery? Even today we reproduce tools made of the very same materials in the form of knives made from ceramics. such knives are very similar in composition to ancient stone tools and share the properties of being very sharp and delicate.
