Questions I've been wondering

What causes some people to feel as if they need to figure things out?

I posit that it's an evolved tendency. Those that wanted to "figure things out" tended to out-survive and out-reproduce those who just didn't really care. Those that wanted to "figure things out" were able to come up with new solutions to new problems, and to get past events which may have caused their downfall.

Also, we as humans are social animals, and not only learn by watching each others (social modelling behavior / monkey see, monkey do), but we also have a tendency to actively teach each other... to intentionally disseminate information to assist the group and our offspring (this is one area where humans and other apes differ a bit). This is another factor in the evolved tendency for wanting to "figure things out," whereby those better able to learn and better able to teach were those who did best in our ancestors struggle for survival and reproduction, and hence represent a greater portion of todays population.
