Noah Posted May 21, 2003 Report Share Posted May 21, 2003 Yes, there is at least one company that I know of that lets you "name" a star. This is kinda my "pet peeve" I guess you could say. First, the naming of the star is not official, only the company keeps records of it. You will not see on a star map or program the star "Noah" for example. And you have no rights on that star. When that company goes out of business, the next one will come up and "rename" your star. Another thing, there have been so many stars already named, that if you do get a star named it will not be visable to the unaided eye. You will at least have to have binoculars to view it, if not a small telescope. While it sounds cool, and may be "romantic" to name a star for a loved one, I personally would say do something else.
