Strange animal pics

I thought it might be fun to do thread on one of my favorite things, wierd and rare animals of the world. Here is a couple to kick things off.

Chinese Giant Salamander

They are the largest living amphibians known today growing around three feet long. They hunt mainly at night, and as they have poor eyesight, use sensory nodes on their head and body to detect minute changes in water pressure, allowing them to detect their prey. In United States, Hellbender Salamanders grow around two feet long.

frilled shark

The Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, south of Tokyo, was alerted by a fisherman at a nearby port on Sunday that he had spotted an odd-looking eel-like creature with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth.

Marine park staff caught the 1.6 metre (5 ft) long creature, which they identified as a female frilled shark, sometimes referred to as a "living fossil" because it is a primitive species that has changed little since prehistoric times.

I've run into a lot of them there beasties in them woods, and the biggest thing I've see was a 10 foot Eastern diamondback rattlesnake, although Wikipedia says "Specimens over 7 feet (213 cm) are rare" but I get to go pretty nasty places. here is a pic of a nine footerBig one.

OK I'll take one photo at a time although you didn't say anything about Hogzilla.

scientists confirmed that Hogzilla actually weighed 800 pounds (360 kg) and was between 7.5 and 8 feet (2.25 and 2.4 meters) long' date=' diminishing the previous claim. DNA testing was performed, revealing that Hogzilla was a hybrid of wild boar and domestic swine (Hampshire breed). [/quote']

I only said it was a monster but it looks every bit as big as the one in this link.

Per "Wikipedia" Human height, White Americans, 20–39 = 164.1 cm (5' 4.6") ground to eye 5', eye to knee 4', +- 9' now straiten out the snake and I can see 9'.

If you compare the height of the people in the gator photo you will notice the gator appears to be almost 18 feet long. I've seen ten to twelve foot gators and while they are impressive this one appears to be much bigger than any real gator would be. Or the people in the photo are pygmies. The humans are no doubt much further from the camera than the gator. It's perspective, I've seen all of these photos on the web years ago and all were shown to be distorted through perspective except the snakes in the culvert and they were put there for effect. I'm not familiar with the hog photo but it is a very big hog.
