This one has been famous for a long time. Great Expectations was written by Charles Dickens, and it is known for being humorous and enlightening. It is a story about an orphan named Pip who was poor. He learns important lessons as he grows up and many you can benefit from as a student.

Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is a well-known novel that is written by Charlotte Brontë. This is a fascinating story about a governess who offers you the opportunity to gain an insight into her life. This includes having an abusive childhood, as well as her describing how she feels about Edward Rochester who is the master.

Nineteen Eighty-Four

If there was anyone who may have seen into in the future when they were writing a novel, it was George Orwell. He wrote this book called Nineteen Eight-Four and looks at a future society that had total surveillance, war and other fascinating circumstances happening. The best part is analysing as a student if you think any of his ideas are present in our society today.

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights was a novel written by Emily Brontë, the sister of Charlotte Brontë. This shows a dark side of love and holds many different perspectives that you can write about. It mostly centres around the love that exists between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliffe.

Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice, and it is definitely a favourite for English literature students today. This is a love story that is interesting to read about and shares a woman’s perspective, and there is a lot you can write about this one.
